Clinical Applications
Dry Eye Assessment and Tear Film Evaluation
Lumio enables detailed assessment of dry eye disease through enhanced visualisation of fluorescein staining patterns and tear film behaviour. The combination of blue light illumination and AVS’ enhanced fluorescein filter allows clinicians to clearly observe tear break-up, punctate staining, and surface irregularities, supporting more confident diagnosis and grading.
Corneal and Ocular Surface Examination
The device supports high-quality examination of the cornea, conjunctiva, and lid margins. Subtle epithelial defects, abrasions, and early-stage surface pathology can be identified more clearly, enabling earlier detection and more accurate clinical decision-making.

Fluorescein-Based Diagnostic Assessment
LUMIO is particularly effective for fluorescein-based evaluations, where contrast and clarity are critical. The enhanced filtration system improves visibility of fluorescein uptake, allowing clinicians to better assess corneal staining, foreign bodies, and surface damage in both routine and acute presentations.
Contact Lens and Anterior Segment Reviews
The portability and magnification of LUMIO make it well suited for contact lens assessments, including evaluation of lens fit, tear film interaction, and ocular surface response. It provides a practical solution for clinicians working across multiple locations or conducting non-traditional clinic-based care.

Rapid Assessment in High-Volume Settings
In busy clinics or outreach environments, LUMIO enables fast and efficient anterior eye examination without compromising quality. Its ease of use and quick setup support high patient throughput while maintaining consistent clinical standards.
Key Features of the Lumio
Dual-Mode Illumination for Versatile Examination
Combines broadband white and tuned blue illumination with three brightness levels, allowing clinicians to switch seamlessly between anterior eye examination and fluorescein assessment, improving workflow efficiency and reducing reliance on multiple devices.
Enhanced Fluorescein Viewing with AVS Filter
The unique AVS clip-in yellow filter features an enhanced colour formula that improves fluorescein contrast and clarity by reducing blue light scatter, enabling precise assessment of corneal staining, tear film, and ocular surface integrity.
Portable, Handheld Design for on the go examination
Compact and lightweight, Lumio is designed for use across clinical, domiciliary, and outreach settings. Its handheld format allows clinicians to perform fast, high-quality anterior eye examinations without reliance on traditional slit lamp infrastructure.
7× Magnification for Detailed Visualisation
Lumio provides 7× magnification, offering a clear and detailed view of the anterior segment. This supports accurate identification of subtle pathology, including surface irregularities, staining patterns, and lid margin abnormalities.
Flexible Examination Without Constraints
Lumio enables comfortable examination in patients who cannot be positioned at a traditional slit lamp, including those with mobility limitations or posture difficulties. Patients may be examined seated, reclined, or in non-standard positions, enabling across all ages.
Smartphone-Compatible Imaging
Lumio allows clinicians to quickly and easily capture images using a smartphone, supporting documentation, remote review, and clinical communication without requiring dedicated imaging systems.
