Dr Karl Obszanski is an engineer, MedTech entrepreneur, and the founder of Aston Vision Sciences. With academic training in biomedical and aerospace engineering and a PhD focused on anterior eye and dry eye diagnostics, Karl brings deep technical expertise to ophthalmic imaging and diagnostic device development.

 

He has led Aston Vision Sciences from concept to international commercialisation, launching multiple ophthalmic devices across global markets and securing several granted patents. His work spans product strategy, engineering leadership, regulatory compliance, and investment engagement, ensuring that each device is grounded in rigorous science, user‑focused design, and clear clinical value.

 

Driven by a passion for blending advanced technology with practical healthcare needs, Karl leads a multidisciplinary team developing portable ophthalmic diagnostic tools used in settings ranging from home visits to hospitals and specialist clinics.

Paul Chapman Hatchett
Non- Executive Director

Paul Chapman Hatchett brings a strong combination of clinical insight, commercial experience, and strategic leadership to Aston Vision Sciences. His career spans decades across eye‑care delivery, multi‑site clinical management, and advisory roles within healthcare and medical technology.

Beginning in high‑street optometry, Paul built and later sold a group of 11 successful franchise clinics, gaining first‑hand experience in service delivery, operational efficiency, and leading clinical teams. He later joined The Outside Clinic, delivering domiciliary eye care and developing a practical understanding of the challenges clinicians face when working in community and home‑based environments.

As a Non‑Executive Director, Paul supports strategic decision‑making, governance, and product alignment with real clinician needs. He also contributes expertise through roles with the Optical Consumer Complaints Service, Eye to the Future, and Vision Care for Homeless People.
